Gel manicure,
made an art form.

L2 Nail Salon is a gel-only studio. We specialize in gel manicures, gel pedicures and Aprés Gel-X extensions — and we deliberately do not use acrylic. Acrylic produces strong odors that affect the respiratory health of both clients and technicians; gel-based systems are gentler on the air, the lungs and the natural nail.

Gel-only

No acrylic. No MMA.

Gentler on your natural nails and on the studio's air quality.

Aprés Gel-X

Sculpted, slim, natural.

Always learning.

Every technician trains and is reassessed monthly. Skills sharpen, trends stay current.

— Gel vs acrylic

Four systems,
one honest comparison.

People often ask for "acrylic" when what they really want is length and strength. Here's what we use instead — and why a gel manicure, builder gel or Aprés Gel-X gets you there without the fumes.

Gel manicure

2–3 weeks

Soak-off gel colour cured under LED, painted on your own nail.

Gentle — soaks off, no filing down the natural nail.

Hard / builder gel

3–4 weeks

A thicker soak-off gel overlay that adds strength or a little length.

Protective — our pick for thin, peeling or recovering nails.

Aprés Gel-X

3–4 weeks

A pre-formed soft-gel tip bonded with gel and cured — full coverage, no acrylic.

Slim and light; soaks off cleanly when you're done.

Acrylic — what we skip

3–4 weeks

Powder plus a liquid monomer that hardens in air, with strong fumes (MMA in cheap versions).

Hard on the air and often filed harshly off the nail. We get the same result from gel.

— Price list

The menu, in full.

Gel-only, every line. Base services stand on their own; + rows stack on top — extensions, hand-painted designs and strengthening add-ons. Final pricing is confirmed at booking.

03

Nail Extension

Aprés Gel-X system — pre-formed soft-gel tips, sculpted slim and natural. Add-on price, stacks on a gel mani.

05

Add-Ons

Strengthening and corrective options to keep natural nails healthy under gel.

— Wear & aftercare

How to make a set
go the distance.

  • Don't peel. Picking a lifted edge takes a layer of natural nail with it — come in for a soak-off instead.
  • Oil daily. Cuticle oil keeps the gel flexible and the skin healthy; dry nails lift sooner.
  • Glove up. Dish soap, gardening and harsh cleaners shorten wear more than anything.
  • Let us remove it. Soak-off is free for returning L2 clients and far gentler than picking at home.
Wear time
2–4 wks

Gel mani 2–3 weeks; Gel-X and builder gel 3–4.

— Common questions

Asked & answered.

Gel vs acrylic, how long it lasts, fixing damaged nails, art pricing, and booking nails with lashes.

Why are you gel-only — what's wrong with acrylic? +

Acrylic is a powder mixed with a liquid monomer that hardens in the air, and it gives off strong fumes — cheaper salons sometimes use MMA, which is widely discouraged for nail use. Gel cures under LED with far less smell and is gentler on your natural nail and on the air everyone in the room breathes. We get the same length and strength from Aprés Gel-X and builder gel without any of that. The American Academy of Dermatology has good general nail-safety guidance.

What exactly is Aprés Gel-X? +

It's a full-coverage soft-gel tip. We size a pre-formed tip to each nail, bond it with gel and cure it under LED — no acrylic and no harsh filing. The result is slimmer and lighter than acrylic and soaks off cleanly. For the city-specific breakdown, see gel manicure & Gel-X in Mountain View.

How long does it last? +

A gel manicure holds 2 to 3 weeks; Gel-X and builder-gel sets run 3 to 4 weeks before a refill or a fresh set. Real-world wear depends on your nails and your hands — dishes, the gym and gardening are the usual culprits.

Will Gel-X or gel damage my natural nails? +

Not when it's removed properly. The damage people remember comes from peeling sets off or aggressive drilling. We soak gel and Gel-X off gently. If your nails are already thin from old acrylics, we start with builder gel to protect them while they grow out.

My nails are weak and peeling after acrylics. Can you fix them? +

Yes — it's one of our most common first visits. We use a hard/builder gel overlay to reinforce the nail, keep length modest while it recovers, and add nail repair where edges are cracked or lifted. It grows out healthier over a few visits.

Can I bring a picture for nail art? +

Please do. Designs are priced per nail — simple accents $2–5, florals and chrome $6–12, custom hand-painted and 3D from $12–20. Winnie is JNA/JNEC-certified and competes in nail art, so detailed work is well within scope.

Can I get my nails and lashes done in one visit? +

Yes. Heather is cross-trained on nails and lashes, so you can book a gel set and an eyelash extension service back-to-back — a lot of clients pair the two.

Healthy nails, hand-painted by us.
